Signals terms

Effective 21 October 2026 · apply to Signals and calls for contributors in the myGeeKy desktop panel, command line and phone app

In short

What Signals is

Signals lets myGeeKy users send each other small private signals (🙏 thanks, 📚 learned from your work, ⭐ used your work, 👀 following your work, 🤝 let's collaborate) and post calls for contributors for their own public repositories. It is optional. Everything lives in each person's own public GitHub repository, called a beacon (mygeeky-beacon); there is no myGeeKy server. Signals themselves are encrypted so that only the person they're sent to can read them. How this works, and what it stores, is in the privacy policy.

When you agree

myGeeKy asks you to agree to these terms before you turn Signals on (on your computer or your phone) and before you post a call for contributors. If the terms change, the date above changes and myGeeKy asks again. You can stop at any time: turn Signals off, or leave it and withdraw your beacon (⚙ on the computer).

What you may not post

This covers your status, your interest tags, the notes in your calls, the names of the repositories you point to, and anything else your beacon carries.

Be a good neighbour

Blocking and reporting

What happens when someone breaks these terms

Reports to support@mygeeky.org are read by myGeeKy's maker. A beacon that breaks these terms is added to the hidden list in myGeeKy's public curated lists: every copy of myGeeKy then stops showing that person's beacon, signals and calls, usually within a day. We may also report it to GitHub. myGeeKy can't delete anyone's repository: only its owner and GitHub can.
